In Chinese cuisine and in other East Asian cuisines, red bean paste is a sweet condiment commonly used to prepare sweetened products. It is a common ingredient in Chinese mooncakes and Japanese mochis. The red bean paste is made using a variety called ‘adzuki red beans’. Red bean paste is also called red bean jam as it looks like common jam with red colour and naturally sweet flavour.
