Total Time: 20 minutes

Difficulty: Easy

Dietary: Contains chicken, seafood and gluten

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 454g yellow egg noodles
  • 2 small chicken fillets, sliced (approximately 113g)
  • 6 medium prawns, shelled and deveined
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ head cabbage, shredded (approximately 56g)
  • 170g bean sprouts, roots removed and rinsed
  • Tomato wedges, for garnish (optional)
  • Chopped spring onion, for garnish (optional)

Seasonings

  • 3 tbsp nasi goreng paste
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1½ tbsp Indonesian sweet soy sauce (Kecap Manis)
  • ¼ tbsp salt

Method

1. Prepare the Ingredients

Rinse the yellow egg noodles under cold water, drain and set aside. Slice the chicken into small pieces.

2. Stir-Fry the Aromatics

Heat the oil in a wok over high heat. Add the minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant.

3. Cook the Chicken and Prawns

Add the chicken and prawns. Stir-fry continuously until they are about half cooked.

4. Add the Noodles and Vegetables

Add the shredded cabbage and noodles to the wok. Add the bean sprouts at this stage if using.

5. Add the Seasonings

Stir-fry for about 10 seconds, then add the nasi goreng paste, sweet soy sauce and salt.

6. Finish the Stir-Fry

Use tongs or a slotted spoon to toss the noodles and other ingredients together. Continue stir-frying for approximately 1 minute, or until the noodles are fully cooked and everything is well combined.

7. Garnish

Garnish with chopped spring onion and tomato wedges, if desired.

8. Serve

Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use high heat throughout the stir-frying process for the best texture.
  • Bean sprouts can be adjusted according to preference.
  • Add extra sweet soy sauce for a sweeter, richer flavour.
  • For a spicier version, add fresh chilli or chilli sauce.
